Starting with this initial issue, Credit Transfer Pathways will strive to cover the news, events and policy decisions surrounding credit transfer and articulation. It also will serve to promote the Educational Linkages and Access' objective to better educate more Ohioans, and its goal to increase seamless access to affordable, quality higher education for all Ohioans. We hope that you will enjoy this first issue of Credit Transfer Pathways. And please let us know if there is something that you would like to learn more about in future issues. Ohio Has a Revised Articulation & Transfer Policy
The State of Ohio has had an Articulation & Transfer Policy since 1990. The policy has undergone many changes over the years to incrementally improve the mobility of students among public colleges and universities within the state. TAGs Guarantee More Than 3,700 Transferable Courses
More than 600 faculty members from Ohio’s two- and four-year public universities, and community and technical colleges have been working on a Herculean project as part of Ohio’s revised Articulation & Transfer Policy.
Their work, a peer review process to define and agree on course learning outcomes, match submitted courses against those outcomes, and review for equivalency, has resulted in the development of advisory tools called Transfer Assurance Guides (TAGs) that guarantee the transfer and application of more than 3,700 pre-major and beginning major courses. Policy Catalog Statement Recommended
The revised Articulation and Transfer Policy recommends that all of Ohio's state-assisted institutions of higher education include a Transfer Module catalog statement in their electronic and print catalogs that is in agreement with the adopted Articulation & Transfer Policy or an Ohio Board of Regents approved summary of the policy. Transcript Clearinghouse to Launch in 2007
The Articulation and Transfer Clearinghouse, currently being developed, will support Ohio’s enhanced Articulation and Transfer Policy. The Clearinghouse will facilitate and expedite the electronic processing of transcripts and allow for the consistent application of course credits. Each transcript will also include additional information regarding coursework guaranteed to transfer and apply through the Ohio Transfer Module and Transfer Assurance Guides. Read more...
