Credit Transfer

Credit Transfer is the Ohio Board of Regents initiative to manage, direct and promote all programs related to and because of the Ohio Articulation and Transfer Policy created in response to legislative concerns over the ability of students to transfer effectively between Ohio’s public post-secondary institutions of higher education.

An Articulation and Transfer Advisory Council was created to facilitate and guide the efforts that will ease credit transfer among Ohio's institutions of higher education.

Transfer Assurance Guide (TAG) Approved Courses Bulletin Board
The Transfer Assurance Guide (TAG) Approved Courses Bulletin Board is a resource to help students, admissions officers, counselors, academic advisors, registrars and other college and university personnel with the transfer of credits process by identifying equivalent, or equal, TAG approved courses at Ohio public institutions of higher education. Bulletin Board users can search for lists of more than 3,700 approved courses within majors that are guaranteed to transfer, and they can search to find out how specific courses will transfer from one university to another.

Transfer Assurance Guides (TAGs)
The Transfer Assurance Guides include the Ohio Transfer Module – both required and elective courses, and then moves beyond those courses into additional hours in pre-major and major courses. Courses in a TAGs are guaranteed to transfer and apply directly to the major. In its totality, the TAGs become a guaranteed pathway for students and is a very powerful advising tool for faculty and other advisors. There are 38 TAGs in 8 specific discipline areas presently involving 6,500 plus courses. The TAGs are developed, approved, and monitored by Ohio’s public institutions for higher education.

Career Technical Credit Transfer (CT2)
Legislation directs the Ohio Board of Regents to work collaboratively with the Ohio Department of Education, public adult and secondary career technical education, and state-supported institutions of higher education to establish criteria, policies, and procedures to transfer agree-upon technical courses from one system to another. Presently five areas of transfer are being developed: Nursing, Engineering Technology, Medical Assisting, Information Technology (Networking), and Automotive Technology.

Articulation and Transfer Clearinghouse (ATC)
The Articulation and Transfer Clearinghouse (ATC) is being developed to support Articulation and Transfer policies.
