Are You the STAR we are searching for?

  • Are you a high achieving low-income, or first generation and/or underrepresented undergraduate student that is a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident, enrolled in a two- or four-year public or private college or university program in Ohio?
  • Do you have a 3.0 Grade Point Average or better?
  • Would you like to complete a graduate degree?
  • Would you like to have the opportunity to conduct a research project in an area of special interest to you with one-on-one direction from a faculty mentor of your choice?
  • Would you like to be able to travel to research symposia across the state and even present your own research project?
  • Would you like to receive financial support and a travel stipend to aid in you in conducting and presenting your research?
  • Would you like to have individual assistance in planning and preparing for graduate school, including help with completing graduate school admissions applications for financial assistance applications and preparing for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)?
  • Would you like to meet and communicate with other students who share common academic goals and interests and who currently are in graduate school or recently completed a master's or doctorate degree?
  • Are you interested in an academic career as a college or university professor?

    If so, then STARS is searching for you!

But what’s the catch?
You must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA., fulfill your undergraduate requirements, and complete your graduate school prerequisites. But first, you must apply!

To apply:
To be considered for admission into a STARS Program at a participating Ohio campus, you must complete an application form. You may obtain a STARS Application through a STARS Campus Coordinator at one of the 20 participating STARS Campuses.
