About the Board

The Ohio Board of Regents, a nine-member advisory board to the Chancellor with two ex-officio representatives from the State Legislature, was created in 1963 by the General Assembly.

The Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, appoints a Chancellor who is responsible for appointing and fixing the compensation of all professional, administrative, and clerical employees and staff members necessary to assist in the performance of the Chancellor’s duties. Currently, Eric D. Fingerhut serves as Chancellor. He is the seventh person to hold this post.
