HEI Enrollment Data Submissions

Extended Baccalaureate Students (ES) File
For Fiscal Year 2002 Processing
Revised May 7, 2001

File Description

The Extended Baccalaureate Students (ES) file identifies students in baccalaureate programs who will take less than or more than four years to graduate from a program. Students identified in the Extended Baccalaureate Students (ES) file should have received a baccalaureate degree in a subject code in the Degree/Certificate Earned (DC) file that fails to uniquely identify a baccalaureate program that does not have a four calendar year expectation. Students identified in the Extended Baccalaureate Students (ES) file should have been enrolled in some type of campus-specific program or subprogram track that is clearly understood to last for a period of time other than four years. Such programs may be compressed baccalaureate programs with intensive coursework or have requirements such internships, co-operative work experiences, or study abroad. Students who took greater than four years because they changed majors, needed to complete remedial work, needed to complete prerequisite work, or other such circumstances should not be included in the Extended Baccalaureate Students (ES) file. Students taking less than four years because of transfer credit or any credit not earned at the degree granting institution should not be included in the Extended Baccalaureate Students (ES) file.

*Note: On July 1 the Extended Baccalaureate Students (ES) file will be renamed the Extended Students (ES) file and will be used to collect information about students in both baccalaureate programs and associate degree programs requiring something other than 2 years for the associate degree program or 4 years for the baccalaureate degree. The specifications for the Extended Students (ES) file can be viewed at Extended Students (ES) file.

Submission Schedule

The Extended Baccalaureate Students (ES) file must be submitted by June 1, 2000 for FY 2000.

Relationship to Other File Submissions
