Q: When is a student no longer considered Tech Prep? I understand that a high school student enrolled in Tech Prep coursework at his or her high school may take courses at our institution. When he or she graduates from high school and continues here, do we still include them in the Tech Prep table? When, if ever, do we stop tracking them as such?
A: Because we're interested in knowing what Tech Prep students are up to throughout their collegiate careers, the motto "once a Tech Prep always a Tech Prep," is very useful. This is a safe way to be sure that all Tech Prep students are identified at least once in their collegiate career. If we were to define a Tech Prep student only when he or she enrolled specifically as a Tech Prep student, we would run the risk of never having identified the student as such. Because of this, it is quite possible that the student's identifier will appear in the Tech Prep file for many terms.
