| To: Tech Prep (TP) File Data Reporters, HEI Liaisons, HEI Advisory Committee From: Harold Horton, Director of HEI Jay Johnson, Assistant Director of HEI Date: December 10, 2001 Subject: Elimination of Tech Prep (TP) File Cc: Dick Arndt, Director of K-16 Initiatives, Regents Tech Prep Coordinators We are pleased to announce that we will no longer collect the Tech Prep (TP) file in its current form beginning Autumn 2001. In order to comply with the new Tech Prep component of the federal Perkins/WIA reporting requirements, we will need more comprehensive data on Tech Prep students. After consulting with Dick Arndt, Director of K-16 Initiatives at the Board of Regents, and Tech Prep Coordinators, we have decided that the Tech Prep Coordinators are in the best position to provide us with the required information. We are in the process of revising the Tech Prep (TP) file so that it will be submitted directly to HEI by Tech Prep Coordinators. We are scheduling training sessions on the HEI file submission process for Tech Prep Coordinators in January. After the revised TP file is in production, we will ask HEI Liaisons at two year campuses (community colleges and technical colleges) and Comm Tech's to provide HEI access to their respective Tech Prep Coordinators.
