Re: Master's and Professional Student Tuition Award (TA) File

The Regents Advisory Committee on Graduates Study (RACGS) agreed upon revising the collection of the Master's and Professional Student Tuition Award (TA) file. The new TA file should be submitted by September 15, 2007 and contain records of tuition awards remitted to master's and professional students during each academic term of the 2007 fiscal year.

For each academic term, report all students on university main and university regional campuses whose rank is master's or professional, receive tuition scholarships or remissions, and satisfy each of the following conditions:

  1. Student is enrolled in graduate courses totaling six credit hours or more.
  2. At least 51% of the graduate student's total tuition bill is paid for using the institution's general revenue funds.
  3. Student receives either no accompanying stipend, or at most, the accompanying stipend is less than $2000 per academic year.
  4. Institution places no service expectation on the student or, at least, the service expectation is less than ten hours per week during the course of the academic term.

The data received from the new Master's and Professional Student Tuition Award (TA) file will be integral in RACGS decision making processes. Thus, your cooperation with this request will be sincerely appreciated. A copy of the new TA file is appended. The file is located at: http://regents.ohio.gov/hei/datasubdoc/enrollment/production/tafile.html

These data are a request of a joint agreement between the Graduate Funding commission and the Ohio Board of Regents because of interest into graduate funding polices. Given the time of the year, and potential staff scheduling conflicts campuses may incur, we have decided to push the closing date for the Master's and Professional Student Tuition Awards (TA) file submission date back to January 8. By pushing the date back we hope to afford campuses a better opportunity to submit the TA, while being able to meet our obligations to the Graduate Funding Commission who requested these data.

One other note-- though Student Enrollment (SN) data need not be reported for these students in Autumn of 2000 before processing the TA, we do require that all students have Student Entrance (SE) data in our database prior to submittal of the TA. If there are students new to your graduate programs in Autumn 2000 that received a tuition scholarship, please submit SE records for these students before sending the TA file. You may submit these students as part of your summer SE submissions, but show their year and term of first enrollment as Autumn 2000.

If you have any questions, please contact Chris Doll, at cdoll@regents.state.oh.us or at (614) 728-8858.
