RE: Course Sections Query
Date:   October 4, 2000

It was recently brought to our attention that in certain cases the Course Section (CS) Query was timing out or not returning output. The Course Section query is one of our most rigorous queries that joins multiple HEI files. We have made some adjustments to our reporting server to account for the demand and hope that this will rectify the problem.  Please do not hesitate to contact me at jjohnson@regents.state.oh.us or (614) 728-2902 if you experience any problems.

Thanks,

Memorandum

RE: No Course Section Schedule File Submission for 2000

Facilities Data Reporters,

As many of you know, we held a utilization workshop on November 3rd. Notes from that workshop, including specific data reporting recommendations, will be available next week. However, during the workshop, it was requested that Ohio Board of Regents (Regents) staff consider not collecting the Course Section Schedule (CS) file every year. Specifically, a campus representative noted that, since the CS file seems to be needed only every two years for Regents' Classroom and Laboratory Utilization Report, it would be helpful for campuses to be able to submit the file only for the report in alternate years.

After some internal discussion, we have decided that we do not need to collect this file every year. Therefore, we will now collect the file in odd years only. That means that for this year, the year 2000, you need only to submit the Physical Structure Inventory (PS) file and the Area Inventory (AI) file. The edit window for those files will be December 7th through February 5th. The next collection of the CS file will occur along with the Other Use of Instructional Rooms (OR) file in 2001.
