Funding Unit Inventory (FI) File

File Description
The Funding Unit Inventory table in the HEI database must contain a record
for each funding unit in a Course
Sections Taught (ST) file, Faculty
and Instructional Non-faculty Funding (FF) file, or Funding Unit Expenditure
(FX) file. A Funding Unit Inventory (FI) file submitted for the current
term should contain only those records to be added to, changed, or deleted
from the Funding Unit Inventory table as it was finalized for the previous
term.
Submission Schedule
Once per term.
The Funding Unit Inventory (FI) file should include data for the entire
term.
Relationship to Other File Submissions
The Funding Unit Inventory (FI) file must be submitted, edited, and loaded
onto the database before submittal of the Course Sections Taught (ST) file,
Faculty and Instructional Non-faculty Funding (FF) file, and Funding Unit
Expenditure (FX) file

Definitions and Descriptions of Data Fields
Campus: This four-character Regents abbreviation uniquely identifies
the campus (or branch) within an institution For Cuyahoga Community College
and Southern State Community College, enter CYCC and SSCC, respectively,
in the campus fields of all records within the Funding Unit Inventory (FI)
file.
College: Using the institution's taxonomy, designate the college
which houses the funding unit. Colleges designated here should also correspond
to colleges identified in the College Expenditure (CP) file.
Funding Unit: A funding unit is defined as the fiscal unit which
either pays an instructor or offers a course. The organization and naming
of the funding units are left to the discretion of campuses, with the exception
of professional medical education. For professional level medical education
institutions, use the following identifiers:
MEDICINE for allopathic medical education leading to an MD.
DENTISTRY for dental education leading to either a DDS or DMD.
OPTOMETRY for optometry education leading to an OD.
VETERINARY MEDICINE for veterinary medical education leading
to a DVM.
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY for clinical psychology.
OSTEOPATHY for osteopathic medical education leading to a DO.
Note that only six Ohio public universities (Ohio University, Ohio State
University, Wright State University, University of Cincinnati, Medical
College of Ohio at Toledo, and Northeastern Ohio Universities College of
Medicine) have professional level medical education.
Delete Switch: A funding unit should be deleted from the database
only when the college or university decides to permanently discontinue
that funding unit.
