Master's and Professional Student Tuition Awards (TA) File

File Description

The Master's and Professional Student Tuition Awards (TA) file contains records for all tuition awards remitted to master's and professional students each academic term .

Submission Schedule

The Master's and Professional Student Tuition Awards (TA) File must be submitted once for fiscal year 2007. The submission must contain data for each academic term occurring in the fiscal year. Thus, the file submission should contain data for SM 2006, AU 2006, WI 2007, and SP 2007. The edit window for the TA File closes September 15, 2007. If deemed necessary, The Ohio Board of Regents reserves the right to request additional information

Capture Date

The capture date for the Master's and Professional Student Tuition Awards File is the last day of each term.

Relationship to Other File Submissions

A graduate (Admission Area field value of "GRD" or "PRO" or "NDG") Student Entrance (SE) record must be submitted and loaded for each student captured in the Master's and Professional Student Tuition Awards (TA) file.

Student Identifier

Enter the federally assigned Social Security Number (SSN) whenever possible. If the SSN is unavailable, enter another identifier which uniquely relates to this student. For a given student, the same identifier must be used in all enrollment files.

Enter the calendar year of the term in which the tuition award was earned.

Explanation or Category of Tuition Scholarship

Enter an explanation or category of tuition scholarships that helps your campus distinguish between category of scholarship and others. This field is optional and will be used only if campuses are able to make sufficient distinctions to make statewide analysis meaningful.

Additional Explanations

Each term, report all master's and professional students who receive tuition scholarships or remissions and satisfy each of the following conditions:

  1. Student is enrolled in graduate courses totaling six credit hours or more.
  2. At least 51% of the graduate student's total tuition bill is paid for using the institution's general revenue funds.
  3. Student receives either no accompanying stipend, or at most, the accompanying stipend is less than $2000 per academic year.
  4. Institution places no service expectation on the student or, at least, the service expectation is less than ten hours per week during the course of the academic term.

Tuition scholarships to university employees as part of employee benefits should not be reported.

Masters and professional level students are defined as students on university main and university regional campuses whose rank is masters or professional students in the term being submitted.
