Higher Education Funding Commission
Formerly State Share of Instruction Consultation (SSIC)
Every two years the Board of Regents convenes a consultation of public campus representatives to review the formula used to distribute the State Share of Instruction (SSI). The members of the consultation review, revise and update the various factors that go into the funding formula. For the most part, these revisions simply update older elements (e.g., enrollments, expenditures per FTE enrollment) with more current data, but occasionally more significant changes to the formula are recommended.
The members of the Higher Education Funding Commission (HEFC) are engaged in a comprehensive review of the assignment of programs to models. This review is made possible by the quality of data generated through the Higher Education Information (HEI) system, which permits a more detailed review of cost data using more current information.
